my point is that governemnts pay no attention to privacy laws, because they are not strong enough.. i think it would be very hard to prosecute anyone… remember the scandal over Prince Charles and his mobile calls to Camilla?

I think there are regulations about governments tracking phones, but being tracked by someone else is a big deal, it is a serious invasion of privacy.

Surely governments and phone companies as well as most federal agencies can track any phone whenever they like anyway?

I think Sagemother makes an excellent point that you need to know the number of the phone.

Then there’s the possibility of allowing someone to discover the “stealth” phone number and leaving it at work or where ever it “should” be at the right times.

I’d guess that the company offering the snooping service would be regulated by the laws of the country where it’s located.

I was just reading through this again and it led me to wonder what the law says about this sort of thing. How far can you snoop on another person without breaking the law? I know it will be different in different countries but I would be interested to know what others think.

I have to admit that it bothers me too, but I can see that it would have value in some situations. I think there have to be some limits on the way this sort of technology is used.

This kind of technology really scares me. I guess that it has it’s uses (if you need to track your teenager) but using it to track adults is just plain wrong.

I think that once a spouse has to resort to tracking the other’s phone, the game is no longer afoot, sadly, the game is up. Time to move on.

I guess if someone knew that their phone was being tracked like that, they could intentionally leave it somewhere or send it somewhere to give a false impression.

But I’m sure this would come in handy in some cases.
