So this would explain why my wife took her first extra-marital boyfriend less than 2 years after our wedding? And why over the next 25 years she has had 4 boyfriends, 1 girlfriend, and who knows how many romances that never ended up in bed? Sorry, I think it is too easy to assume it is always men.

I think poster25′s reasoning of men cheating as “just because” is an over-simplification. Some people, both men and women, begin relationships with no intention of fidelity. There’s probably a psychological reason for that.

Others seem to begin cheating over time to satisfy urges or needs that aren’t being met by the person they’re with.

Men cheat more than women. Men do it just because, but women usually on do it out of loneliness or revenge.

I agree with Tater. I feel that men are more inclined to cheat because they are a slave (many times) to a body part other than the brain, lol.

I think both are capable of cheating but I will say that I feel men do it more only because I just don’t feel that in a moment of passion that they think of the long term repercussions. Just my opinion.

I think it’s a difficult topic to study, and for physical reasons women are more at risk for unwanted pregnancies and in many cases STDs, depending on the activities.

I think in general, men are more inclined to cheat because of their immediate accessibility to their sex drive.
