  Everyone is different, but I think the way to make marriage work is to have good communication, to make time for each other and to have honesty/trust between you. All of this takes effort from both partners.

  That seems to be the key, yes… it can’t just be one sided and just one of the partners wanting the trust and honesty. It needs to be not 50% from each, but *100%* from each.

  Katharina that is absolutely right, you need both partners to make effort for the marriage to work.

  If there is only one person making all the effort it will not work it takes both partners to achieve on good communication.

  I think that the secret to having a good marriage is to never take each other for granted. It’s so easy to get lazy in a relationship and let it slip away.

  You can have all the good intentions in the world, but it takes active effort to keep things good in a marriage.
