I’ve never seen her look less than great, I’d say. Thinking of a few years ago, I wonder how difficult her breakup with Billy Joel was? I guess she pretty much always lands on her feet.

I will say this for Christie, I saw her on the tv the other day and she looked pretty terrific. As much of a burden that her private (become public) life is, she wears it well, doesn’t she?

they don’t often say as couples in those circumstances. The age difference always ends up being insurmountable in the long term.

I remember seeing a man in his forties dancing late into the night with his girlfriend, a significantly younger woman at a company party once, and in that case he seemed to me to be desperately trying to fit in or maybe keep up. It looked awkward to me. I don’t know many couples personally with notably different ages.

agreed to a point taggart, but it is a slow change even now..

Just like if a man leaves his wife and takes up with young girlfriend he’s a stud… if a woman leaves her husband for a young boyfriend she’s a whore…

Attitudes haven’t changed that much yet…

I’m sure some women think that way, as do some men but I really don’t think the majority of people have that much trouble dealing with divorce. I suspect it’s different in different communities.

women are still brainwashed into thinking that asking for a divorce is something to be ashamed of and that if their husband cheats it is somehow their fault…

Christie MUST have been hurt to her quick to reveal so much about her husband’s cheating. I don’t think I could be so open in those circumstances, but, as SageMother rightly pointed out, silence hurts women in his instance.

I think that it’s terrible that the issues in their marriage became so public but, even so, he sounds like a hideous person to me! Christie deserves much better!
