I agree that politician’s wives are not unique for sticking by their cheating husbands. You don’t hear much about the everyday women that do the same for various reasons.

Kernow, you are so true. If you can’t be honest with the woman that you lie down next to every night, then why should I trust you or believe anything that comes out of your mouth?

I think it does influence the way they fulfil their public role. Lying and cheating in their private life does not give us a reason to trust them. And while they are distracted with all their ‘goings on’ they are not giving their full attention to their work.

Janice, they deal with it just like we do. We just don’t make a habit of making these types of problem public for everyone to cast their votes on.

Green-Moo, public apologies generally work for the masses that is why they are made for most part.

And also, the hope maybe that they will be forgiven and get to keep their political jobs at the same time.

I personally think that politicians are just human like you and I. They will make the same mistakes that we do, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they can’t do the job to the best of their abilities. It’s just unfortunate that their personal lives cloud the perception of their professional abilities.

Calypso, some of these men really are truly sorry it happened.

But no matter how sincere they are for doing wrong, it just can’t make the hurt go away. I wonder how the wives deal with it.
