The Honorable Kwame M. Kilpatrick, Mayor of the City of Detroit, is under fire for not being so “honorable”.
Not only was he married and cheating on his wife, he could possibly be facing up to 15 years imprisonment by lying under oath in court about his romantic association with Christine Beatty, a top government aide, during a police whistle-blower lawsuit in 2002.
The Detroit Free Press examined over 14,000 text messages on Christine’s government issued pager, and found sexy steamy messages from the mayor to his aide like “I’ve been dreaming all day about having you all to myself for 3 days. Relaxing, laughing, talking, sleeping and making love.â€
Text messages never lie and the truth will always prevail.
No one ever is above the law…. Not even the Honorable Kwame M. Kilpatrick.
It serves him right for cheating on his wife.

You cannot help but wonder why these people in high profile positions would take the chance and have an affair. And if they choose to have an affair at least be somewhat more discrete about it. They seem to make some of the dumbest mistakes.
What I love is how they always deny it even in the face of absolute proof. As though we are so stupid we will not believe our own eyes!
People are just people, it doesn’t matter what profession they go into, whether it medical, pastoral or normal, so they still do whatever they please.
I can never understand why people in positions of power should be thought to be any more immune to the lure of extra marital affairs than the rest of us. I mean, surely this sort of thing isn’t news any more?
Green-Moo
I agree with you tater. I don’t see how this happens, I mean, it almost seems as if they actually want to be caught.
Tater03, or lie about it in the court of law!
And to think they wouldn’t get caught.
It’s funny how a rush of desire, and the hormones that fuel it, will make a guy feel invincible. I have to laugh every time I read this article…sheesh!
I kind of get a giggle out of it to when I see this kind of stuff. Not for the person that is cheated on but for the person that is cheating. I mean what a way to get caught but in the public for everyone to see. Then again as I type that I really feel for the partner to have this happen in the public eye.
We aren’t familiar with the married couple in the story. There are alot of wives, especially political spouses, who don’t really care if their spouses cheat as long as it stays private.
Jewel, and the irony of it is they got caught!
SageMother, LOL! You and me both.
Accer, exactly. I just can’t seem to get over though how this man is very much loved by his party and the city people.
Tater03, I guess it’s different when you get caught and only a few people know.
Can you imagine getting caught and the whole north america knows! I think that is just so embarassing.
Liza, you are right about that. However, when a person takes a position of trust, then their conduct is always in the limelight no matter whether they like it or not.
And in this case, when you lie about things like these you break the trust.
MollyL, I guess it all comes down to keeping the social status isn’t it?
That’s just so sad why they would have to put up with it!
I can understand why the people would love him so much, he seem to be really charismatic.
I think that we are seeing a behavior that is getting ready to disappear. Not the cheating, but people being shocked by it.
Sooner or later these things have to become non-issues. There are more important problems to deal with.
Liza, I just heard that he was given a jail sentence because cheating is not the only sin that he’s committed….. apparently, he was also spending the government’s coffers.
