I don’t know if you’ve kept up with the news surrounding the mass murder of a family over the weekend in Delaware Wisconsin, it turns out that this was a murder suicide. The local police are suspecting the father was jealously enraged and shot his wife, his 6 month old twin boys, his sister-in-law and a friend. They also found a 2 year old girl in the family’s minivan with a gunshot to her chest. Can you imagine? Almost a whole family just gone because some stupid dodo decides to kill everyone over a jealous rage. What is this world coming to? With so much violence around us, wouldn’t you think that a parent’s instinct should be to try to protect their children from the big bad wolf? This person who did this is so selfish, he can’t see beyond his ass. That there are other people in this world that matters and that it is not always about him.
There must be a way to stop idiots like him from starting families.

It’s difficult to understand how jealousy relating to a partner can extend to include the children, the sister in law & a friend. But then for any ‘normal’ person it’s hard to understand how any jealousy could end in a bloodbath so I don’t suppose logic comes into it.

I missed this story in the news. This is terrible. I don’t know how anyone could do this sort of thing. I really feel for the ones left behind that have to pick up the pieces and try to go on.
Clearly this man was deranged. Personally, I don’t believe that a person could do this is not in his right mind. Some fathers, crazy or not, have the idea that their children are their property.
Tater03, it is really sad.
mollyL, and sometimes it is too late to find out that you have shacked with a deranged man.
There has just been too many instances that this has happened.
Green-Moo, in these cases I don’t think logic even comes into play. When people get emotional, they start to live with the wrong scenarios in their head from time to time…. and if they don’t snap out of their head, they end up acting on it irrationally.
It’s just so sad that the children and other family relatives had to be part of his vengeful irrationality.
Diva, that’s why you don’t “shack” with a man. Any woman who does needs to know the risks she is taking.
How terribly sad! It is impossible to imagine the depths someone has to reach to even contemplate doing that. I don’t think we can ever understand.
mollyL,
Regardless of the terminology, having anyone in your life who’s sense of entitlement extends to people who’s lives they would control, or end when they cannot control them, is a sign that something is terribly wrong.
I agree. I cannot fathom how anyone can kill, much less a parent killing his own children. There are some really disturbed people in this world!
It’s the first I am actually hearing about this story. And yes, it’s really sad, the world has certainly gone bananas.
This is simply horrific. I can’t even imagine what kind of monster woke up in that man to make him do that. Killing himself is not punishment enough.
Sadly reports of a parent killing their family happen too often. It is horrific, and it is terrifying that circumstances can push an apparently normal person to see such thing as the only answer to their situation.
My husband says these people always do the shooting in the wrong order.
I noticed that, since everyone who was present for the shooting is dead, we have to take the word of the investigators that it was motivated by jealousy.
Do you think there might have been other issues associated with the tragedy?
Ego, even though it is linked to jealousy, may be a factor. Probably he didn’t think he could face his friends with what was happening to him.
mollyL, the american dream has changed drastically in the last twenty years.
“Shacking Up” has now replaced marriage and a lifetime committment.
Justontime, no I can’t imagine either.
Liza, I still think that mental stability was a big issue and is always the main cause for these murders.
It’s really sad that no one reached out to him to get counselling or get diagnosed before this happened.
