  I couldn’t make the sound work on that clip. It makes me mad when polititians tell everyone else how to behave then we find out that they have been cheating. Why shoud we respect them after that.

  justontime, that’s true. But sometimes I wonder, what does marital affairs really have to do with politics? I mean, it’s not like as if politicians are going to change their view point of how things should be run in this country if they are having an affair.

  It matters because politicians tend to tell us what we should do. If they are going on about family values etc while they are cheating on their partner they are hypocritical. Also if they think it is OK to lie and cheat in one aspect of their lives why should anyone trust them in public life.

  We live in a society where lying is inherant. Just watch the adverts on TV! People almost expect to hear untruths.

  IF politicians would stick to matters that concern a civil society, like the economy, infrastructure, and relationships with other countries to name a vew things, and refrained from delving into those matters that are personal in nature, their behavior in their own personal lives would be a rendered moot.

  The best way to solve this conflict between their cheating and what they present as the ideal way to live, is for them to stop trying to dictate how people behave in their private lives.

  Sagemother, I fully agree with you on this one! I am expecting those politicians out there to have a high moral value. As they have chosen a profession that will surely attract public attention, you should not delve into having an extra marital affair.

  Actually I have come to reality that politicians do not have high moral standards, they are dishonest, they lie and do almost anything to get and retain power.

  Politicians usually go by these kinds of rules: Do what I tell you, not what I do. They have a double standard for what they expect from their constituents, than for what they stand and do themselves… so Why trust them??

  I guess most of us don’t trust many of them, because they do not really inspire trust, but it is hard to see why their spouse would tolerate the humiliation of public humiliation.

  How can they tell other people what is right and wrong when they are behaving so badly themselves?

  I think most of us expect double standards from politicians, I think most people are fairly sceptical when it comes to trusting them.
