I agree, it is sad, I would much rather have the truth however bad it was, but I would consider I had a lucky escape – imagine spending your life with someone who thinks it is OK to do that.

I know different countries have different traditions and customs and some places are more formal than others, but surely a simple and honest reason for breaking up is the only decent way to deal with it. I would be devastated if someone used a bought excuse to break up with me.
