Maybe they only last longer (if you are right about that) because the people in arranged marriages are not free to split up in the way that people in conventional marriages are.

I totally agree with you, my husband and I were talking this week and we spoke about how ready we were to take on the challenges or marriage, and looking back, we weren’t that ready.

There needs to be a fundamental change in how marriage is viewed.

There is still way too much fairytale romanticism associated with the institution. More realism would probably go a long way to creating humane expectations.

If people were taught to approach marriage the way you would approach hiring a nanny or employee, we might see marriages that are stronger.

I think that not many people has a clue about the effects of a divorce or separation, so they go into a marriage based on things that are superficial.
